Compassion

Two women took the chance, to convince a man that was going to commit suicide by jumping off a freeway overpass, to change his mind and choose to live. To me, the visual of the women guiding him out of danger was chilling. The woman’s hands on the fence along with his, telling him “I’m with you, don’t do this please. If you hurt yourself you may also hurt a family below in a car. Don’t look back. If you can get through today; tomorrow may be different and you may not have wanted to do this….....”. What an incredible act of compassion!

I chose to tell this story in this quilt in the hope of spreading the message. Can we choose to be mindful of people that are feeling isolated and withdrawn in the dark and do what is in our capacity to guide them to a better world where each one feels someone has their back? Someone is watching out for them. The possibilities of helping are many. Can we get started?
